Transfer posting material to material with different stockkeeping unit

Dear expert,

Currently I am having bad situation where the material quantity was posted to the wrong material in initial stock stage. When time goes by, we just reliaze that some material went to the different material code due to was wrongly map into old number. Then I came out an idea to use transfer posting material to material, but the system stops me to perform MT 309 bucause of the stockkeeping unit is different. My question, is there any possibilities to perform transfer material to material with different stockkeeping unit.

Prerequisites
-      A material master record must already exist for the receiving material.
-      Both materials must be kept in the same base unit of measure. The basis for all conversions on posting is always the base unit of measure: the unit of entry in the material document is irrelevant

Some options:

- cancel 561 goods movement of wrong material (MBST or MIGO) > post 561 goods movement with proper material (you can change posting date as per your wish)

- MB1A + 201 + posting date to eliminate the stock of wrong material > MB1A + 202 + posting date to set the stock level of proper material

- physical inventory adjustment - suggested above

The problem if I perform reversal of initial stock, the period already far away from posting date of initial stock ( 3 months). I need your advice.

Hi,

Then please apply MB1A + 201 / 202 or physical inventory adjustment. I would prefer MB1A + 201 / 202. (MB1A + 201 is to eliminate undesired stock, MB1A + 202 is to set stock for proper material).

You can use the suitable posting date.

Dear Csaba,

Thank you very much for your advice. I have done Proof of Concept, base on your advice to use MT 201 for problematic material and perform 202 for proper material. Your concep is correct rather then performing initialize the period into the 31.03.2009.

Hi,

It is not possible to do material to material transfer for different stock keeping unit. But for your scenario you can do physical inventory for both the materials and match the quantity.

Hi,

You can define the conversion of different base unit in two parts' material master data with function of additional data, then try transfer posting again!

You got the correct process from Csaba. He even metioned a SAP note. Whom do you trust?

I feel Tao has just talked theory, without having tested what he said. If SAP say that the materials base units need to be equal, then you should believe it.
