I using using BATCH mgmt also.Previuosly while the document was posted the revison level used to get updated in the classificatio tab...

you cannot award points, you can upvote answers if they are good and you can accept answers if they solved your issue.

What is the field name for the revision level (use F1 technical field help to obtain this info)

Adding a characteristic in CL02 does not tell much, is the revision level field correctly referenced?

How do you want it to be (or was it in the past)?. Should the classification (which class type?) have the revision level already in the material?

Or will this be determined when then batch is created? Do you eventually use object dependencies to fetch values?

Are you really talking about material document classification or batch classification? I would usually check classification for batches with MSC3N instead of searching for a material document and looking at classification from MIGO.

What is the field name for the revision level (use F1 technical field help to obtain this info) -REVLV

Adding a characteristic in CL02 does not tell much, is the revision level field correctly referenced?-Yes

How do you want it to be (or was it in the past)?. Should the classification (which class type?) have the revision level already in the material?-No in Classification field in material master the revision level is always blank

Or will this be determined when then batch is created? Do you eventually use object dependencies to fetch values?-When MIGO_GR is in the process of getting posted nothing gets updated ,after posting when we see the display of material document the revision level is updated in revision field

Are you really talking about material document classification or batch classification? I would usually check classification for batches with MSC3N instead of searching for a material document and looking at classification from MIGO.- I go into material document & then classification tab in that & see the revision level which is updated after posting.

When i see in CL02 the table, is QALS which is related to inspection lot..

MARA does not have a REVLV field, QALS does not have a REVLV field either.

the field name from QALS table is SELREVLV (its data element is named REVLV)

Based on that your characteristic should reference QALS-SELREVLV

You wrote: "...where the revision level is maintained in material master"

Where is this exactly, a standard field, a Z-field, or in the batch classification?

If the behavior is not anymore as before then you should check in your test system if you can recreate this issue.

Then check the change history, whether the field got updated in material master after the batch was created.

Then check the change history of the batch to be certain that the value was not removed later.

Check the change history for the the characteristic and class to see if somebody did changes that could have caused this issue.

Where is this exactly, a standard field, a Z-field, or in the batch classification?-Standard field not a Z field. In CL02 the revision level characteristic has been assigned

If the behavior is not anymore as before then you should check in your test system if you can recreate this issue.-Tested in quality working fine

Then check the change history, whether the field got updated in material master after the batch was created.- The field gets updated in Material master but in the classification tab in material master the revision level is always blank.

Then check the change history of the batch to be certain that the value was not removed later.-Batch no is being generated but when the MIGO document is getting displayed the revision level field in classification tab in MIGO is blank,it is not updating the REVISION value which is in the material master

Check the change history for the the characteristic and class to see if somebody did changes that could have caused this issue.-I will check & come back

How do i award points?

If the revision level was getting updated every time a MIGO_GR was performed, I suspect that this a custom revision level characteristic that does not reference anything specifically in the SAP system. I would talk to your ABAPers or look at your own internal documentation to see how this worked in the first place. I suspect that it will be some custom code on your system that is failing.

We are debugging with ABAPers but not able to identify..

yes, i accept that the field is SELREVLV, but somehow it is not populating the field in MIGO_GR which it did few days back..

QALS is the table for inspection lots.

You initially said you have a field in material master, where exactly is this field (can you give a screenshot)?

Is this a new material or did it work in the past with exact this material?

As the classification should be filled from QALS it is of course necessary that this material is quality managed and has been prepared for quality inspections in the QM view.

I would also expect some coding to fetch this value from QALS as the key for inspection lot is the inspection lot number

This all sounds like some kind of custom programming. QALS is simply the table and would have absolutely zero ability to update or change anything in classification at a material or batch level. However this was being accomplished in the past had to be modification or customization. Have you applied any hotpacks or notes to the system recently?

It looks like based on this discussion, both of you think there may be a connection to quality management. One place custom code could be is in the BADI INSPECTIONLOT_UPDATE. Check for any implementations of that one or any of the user exits. The enhancements (SMOD) related to Inspection Lot creation are in usually in the following

  • QAAT0001
  • QAAT0002
  • QAPO0001
  • QAPO0002
  • QAPO0003
  • QAPP0001
  • QAPP0002
  • QAPP0003
  • QAPP0004
  • QAPP0005
  • QAPP0006
  • QAPP0007

You will not be able to debug this straight from MIGO, because the QM portion is part of the UPDATE TASK.
