Parent with component for SO, AR but Parent for PO

How to use same item number with different display in SO, AR and PO? The parent item only need for PO to vendor but Parent item with detail component items will be needed in SO and AR invoice since when the customer returns the component will know how much for that specific part.

I did this way that works fine.

In BOM, use Template type. Parent item is Inventory, sales and purchase item. Child item is sales item then we can use Parent items in PO and SO, Invoie can display both Parent/Child items with each row price.

The only issue will be BOM child items, sometimes will need to be inventory item to count for RMA replacement or repair use. Then I need to create another unique item for inventory count purpose.

Hi Gordon,

1. Production module, BOM types (Sales and Assembly) can setup as Sales Item but not Inventory or Purchase item. Does that mean the Sales item won't be deducted from the qty if I setup this way?

If use BOM for Production type need to do Planned, Released and Completed will take time.

Template type much easy to display Parent and Child items in SO but I don't want the Child items show in PO for vendor. The other problem is you have to put each item Price for SO (even not quite right) but how to put one cost to Parent item in PO module?

2. Add_on is from Navigator? I did not use SDK before. Anyone uses this add_on and works fine?

Inventory Master Data indicated item is for Inventory, Sale and Purchase. But, the Production module has Bill of Material setup for this inventory item. When CSR enters this item will show Parent and Component detail and AR Invoice needs to show Parent and each Component price break-down for customer to return any component.

PO item needs to show Parent item (no need for each component items) only for vendor. How to use one Inventory item but display differently in SO, AR and PO correctly is my question.

If the item called ABC for finished goods item and each price is $800 but ABC is the parent item that comes with C001 $100 1pc, D001 $300 1pc and E001 $400 1pc. We want to show ABC 1 pc $800 with detail C001 $100, D001 $300 and E001 $400.

But, in PO we only want to show ABC 1 pc $550 (cost) to vendor without any component item.

In this case, you have to use add-on or SDK to make it work. Only Sales BOM could show components on SO, not production BOM.

You question is not too clear. Do you mean you purchase a finished product and resell? If that is true, then the return for component would need special process to handle. There is no mapped functions in B1.
