Hello Guru's,
I am facing a issue with Record Working Time in ESS.
Issue:
In weekly view we have option to select the date i.e Week From date to date.
All other places the date format gets affected if we changes the format in user settings (i.e SU3 date Format for a user).
For Example for a employee the date format is DD.MM.YYYY but in the weekly view the place where we can select the from and to date. shows the date format in MM/DD/YYYY, which shouldn't be the case since the user setting is set to DD.MM.YYYY.
Please help me out in this.
Thanks for your Time.
Kind Regards,
Pramod

Hi,
Generally Date format depends on the logged in users Language. English-UK will have a different date format and English-US will have a different date format.
So first check what is the user's Language.
In portal : goto user management and search for required user there you can see user's language.
In R3: gotot su01 transaction, there you can see user's language. I hope there is an option for date format also(i am not sure).
Change them and try.....
In portal If you want to change language for entire portal, you can do this below way...
logon with administrator user
goto content administration -> multiple property replacement
under portal content right click on iview folder to change property and add folder to list click next
check iview and click next select serach object by property id enter ForcedRequestLanguage into property id
and enter langage u want to use in new value the number of occurance iview can listed click next and than click finish

Srinivas
Hi Srinivas,
Thank you for the reply.
Yes you're right, the issue is with User Language setting in Portal.
Now We have global implementation, and user language settings are different for different countries, how to tackle this.
For example I want user language for US to set to English (United States) and for user based in UK to English (United Kingdom).
Please let me know how to change the settings in General information of User.
Thanks & Regards,
Pramod
Hi Pramod,
While creating users in portal generally we give user's language also. So if all users are not yet created then while creating user it self you specify the user language. In user management goto create user/search user, then if you select a user in that inside general information tab you can see user's language.
If you are planning to create new users through batch upload then specify the language as required like EN_US or EN_UK.

Hi Srinivas,
Thanks for the reply.
The issue is all the users are already created..
Now that they are in place we need to change the language setting for users based on the country.
any possible options other than giving end users to personalize using the personalize in masthead.
Any other ideas!!
Thanks & Regards,
Pramod
Hello All,
Santhosh Edla, solution worked as expected.
We made sure in all the places like JCo Connectors, User Profile in Portal, have language set to EN rather than any country specific like EN-US or EN-UK that way by default it takes Browser Language settings and accordingly the date format.
And also in the prtDefault.properties file since if we are not maintaining any language in user profile in Portal it defaults to Language = EN and Country = US.
Hope this helps.
Cheers-
Pramod
Pramod,
Portal date format compleately depends on the locale of the user.
First check the portal user locale.
1. if the portal ume datastore is portal
u need to set the locale through visual admin.
2. if it is SAP
use the su01 to set the locle by filling the language and format country fields.
3. check client setting date format (windows) also.
