Although not a question, I thought using a forum thread to let everyone know about some new Web Dynpro ABAP realted eLearning sessions might be useful. These focus on new features in NetWeaver 7.01 and give a little sneak preview to some features coming later this year in NetWeaver 7.02. I try to publish new sessions twice a month.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for information.

S/4 HANA benefits from the use of a user interface based on SAP Fiori.

What about complex application which needs to be build on S/4 HANA.

What is the road map of Webdynpro with S/4 HANA?

Thanks,

Kiran.

I have not covered the Web Dynpro ABAP topic now for several years. You should address your question generally as a new thread in the topic forum and hopefully someone who covers the topic now can address it.

Hello Thomas.

I got some questions for you.

I think you are a great expert on SAP Development Subject.

I saw the webdynpro tutorials that you appended on this board.

When I saw the tutorial there were some persons work with me.

And they were suprised with the beautiful graphics. It's M~uch better than the webdynpro Screens( like colours or Designs) that I use until now.

So. I want to change my webdynpro development enviroment excatly the same thing as the tutorial's one.

And I found there is URLS. That means Unified Rendering Light Speed.

It changes Some of webdynpro's development attributes.

And I also think it can spoils some or all the webdynpro components that existed before I applied URLS.

I have two questions.

one of the questions is this. If I apply URLS on my system, whether the system does get any negative effedcts from the applying.

The other question is this. I have a experience that use NWBC. And the Tutorial's GUI looks similar to NWBC. I want to know the GUI's name and What should I do if I use it on my system.

Component Version - ECC 6.0

Enhencement Package Version 3

Thank you for your concern and reading.

I deeply Appreciate you,

Regards,

Jonghwan

What you are seeing from a design standpoint is the new Signature Design. This is part of Web Dynpro ABAP as of NetWeaver 7.0 Enhancement Package 1. There are two parts - the Lightspeed rendering and the new theme sap_tradeshow_plus.

>one of the questions is this. If I apply URLS on my system, whether the system does get any negative effedcts from the applying.

Lightspeed rendering becomes standard as of NetWeaver 7.0 EnhP1. You can't use it before then. However it should be the standard rendering and work for every application after you apply the Enhancement Package. Since you said you were on ECC 6.0 EnhP3 you wouldn't have NetWeaver 7.0 EnhP1. NetWeaver EnhP1 comes with ECC Enhp4.

>The other question is this. I have a experience that use NWBC. And the Tutorial's GUI looks similar to NWBC. I want to know the GUI's name and What should I do if I use it on my system.

In many of the videos I am using the NWBC - but the upcomming 3.0 version. See the eLearning that I did on NWBC 3.0. This version will be released alongside NetWeaver 7.0 Enhancement Package 2 in Q4 of this year.

Hi Thomas,

Great effort shown in these new e-Learning tutorials. Can you just make this thread as sticky thread?

As it would get lost in the forum, may be after a day or two. It would be easy for all to access the links if it stays on top and you can keep on adding more e-Learning links to this thread as you go on creating them.

Runal

I'm a little reluctant to put another sticky on the this forum. There is a blog that I keep up to date with all the Web Dynpro ABAP related eLearnings that I have created:

/people/thomas.jung/blog/2006/06/20/web-dynpro-abap-demonstration-videos

This blog is linked to from the WIKI: https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/WDABAP/Learning+Map and from the offical Online Help. Also the eLearning Library has a separate category for Web Dynpro: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/webdynpro-elearning - but Web Dynpro ABAP and Java are mixed in there.

I also post them on Enterprise Geeks and you can subscribe to the RSS Feed there: http://www.enterprisegeeks.com

I mostly wanted to use this thread as a little one-off advertising so that more people would know that these eLearnings are out there and that they are added to frequently.

I was not aware of all this new E-Learnings yet so yes, it was a great idea to post it here.

As a suggestion (not a topic one though), an option would be nice to download all of this at once in some sort of pack for later offline watching. However if something like this would depend on your time to upload it twice, I'd certainly prefer you to invest it in creating more sessions

As always, many thanks.

Thanks for the feedback. SDN has a policy that it doesn't allow downloadable versions of the eLearning videos. However most of these videos are also available on my Blip.tv page:

http://thomasjung.blip.tv/posts?view=archive&nsfw=dc

From Blip.tv detail page for each video there is a download button toward the bottom of the page that will allow you to download the video in Flash (FLV) format.

I also always post the videos to the Enterprise Geeks website as well:

http://enterprisegeeks.com/blog/category/tv/

For the more recent videos on the Enterprise Geeks site I convert the video to downloadable MP4 format and to iPod/iPhone format. This is something I plan to do going forward.

Incidentally I just posted today the latest eLearning video on Web Dynpro ABAP 7.02 Notification Service:

http://enterprisegeeks.com/blog/2009/06/03/abap-freak-show-june-3rd-web-dynpro-abap-notification-ser...

This video will also be available within the SDN eLearning Library within a few days.

Hello Thomas

I created my first WDA with Flash Island some time ago with your Tutorial and works very good (thanks) . Now i'm trying to create your WDA Demo Messenger with Notification Service wich you show in video, but i need some help.  In the video i can see , por example, the code for Root Class methods REGISTER or NEW_MESSAGE but not for the other methods, and the same for the WDA i can not see the complete component in the video, or the attributes for the shared memory area ; i really don't know if i should generate by my self that code and components wich do not appears in the video or if there is some place where we can see step by step how to create the WDA Demo Messenger, like your tutorial for WDA with Flash Island . Could you please clarify this ? Thanks a lot for share your knowledge. Best Regards.

I don't always post all the source code for all the videos I produce. I never posted the complete source code for this example. It was more to increase awareness of the Notification Service in general. I suggest studying one of the example applciations in the system for the notification service. Perhaps look at WDR_TEST_NOTIFICATION.

Hello Thomas

I don't find any documentation about this Notif.Service Demo, we are in 7.02 and i can see the WDA (in Germany languaje) but there is not documentation available in the system for understand at beginning the purpose/use of the demo for debbug it. I really don't find documentation in SAP Portal, SDN or web in generally about Notification Service, could you please help me about where can i find documentation about this ?  Thanks in advanced..

On the notification service, the primary docuemntation I could point you to are my video on the subject, the online help, and the example application delivered in standard. It seems as though you've found all those sources and still have questions.  Is there something in particlaur I can answer? I also write about the notification service in the SAP Press Book - Next Generation ABAP Development 2nd edition.  If you have a copy of that, it has an example you might find useful.  Basically I simulate a long running report and trigger status events back to the UI to give % complete updates.

Hello Thomas, although i'll get the book (thnks) , my basic doubt is how to use the standard demo, if i run it i see a WDA with several buttons and actions but i do not know wich is the purpose/functionality of that demo in order to i can use it and debbug it; i mean i can't easy understand the WDA code because i don't know what does that program supose to do or how to use it like user. That's because i'm trying to get documentation about that standard demo , what does that demo do. I hope i'm explaining my self, Regards.

Are you trying wdr_test_notification.  If so, I agree this isn't the best example. Its intended as a test tool not an educational one. We had something interal called WDR_DEMO_MESSENGER, but it doesn't look like that got shipped in standard.

I can share a slightly simpiler example (very similar to the one in the Book).  You might find this easier to get started with.

Thnks Thomas, i have not used before NUGG files so i investigate it and install the required SAPLink objects for get the demo ; and finally i understand the concept of Notif. Service ; now i'm going to check how to apply this concept to work with one same event between severals WDA, using Shared Memory Area or well a Z Table.  What i need is that one action in some WDA can trigger an action in the ohter instances of the same WDA running by other users (i guess this is possible, am i right?).  Thnks a lot.

Done Thomas, i made a wda messenger with Notification Service.  I can't believe that i had not seen in your talk about Long Polling demo the key about Notif. Service wich i was looking for in documents, SAP help and threads ; wich is simple: when you update to done the event it trigers the WDA method action that you suscribe when you get the service id.  Thanks a lot .
