Unable to get Crystal XI Release 2 SPx installed

I own a license for Crystal Report XI Professional and have the physical CDs for that that installation. I HAD it installed and it was working fine, but in my infinite wisdom thought I should attempt to upgrade to Crystal Reports XI Release 2 SP4, using the Full version from the SAP download area. And thatu2019s where my problems beganu2026

The installation seems to run fine until the reboot, where I am given errors about missing files (seems to be random every time I attempted to reinstall) or that the Windows Installation package was invalid. I eventually gave up on using this package and downloaded the Full version of SP2 instead. More errors about missing files.

At this point I figured at the very least I could start over, and run my installation from my CDs. Itu2019s been awhile since I ran that installation, but I recalled it taking sometimes as often as 2 attempts to get the installation to u2018take.u2019 Well Iu2019ve tried multiple times now (after removing any remnants of Release 2) and am receiving missing file errors after boot.

I am running Windows XP SP2, with local admin rights. I canu2019t find any reference to the missing file errors I am seeing on SAPu2019s website anywhere. After reading further, Iu2019m not even sure my license SHOULD work with Release 2, but thereu2019s nothing in the installation process that tells me itu2019s invalid.

The website(s) (I found 2) that list out all of the available service packs, etc for CR XI are very confusing. There is no mention of version numbers, so anyone going to the website is really just guessing at what they should even try. They also give you no reference for technical support.

I did finally get CR XI to install, but in order to do so, had to do the install, reboot, then login as 'local workstation only.' I currently have version 11.0.0.1282, but I have no idea what service packs could/should be applied, and don't know why Release 2 refuses to install even using the steps above. The whole reason I bothered looking into this in the first place was to be able to put bookmarks in my PDF exports, which I think can be done with the new Release...
