Variant Configuration

Hi All

I wonder If someone can advise if Variant Config could be used for the folllowing.

We have several Materials that we stock and sell as required using standard Sales Order and WM process's. However, for some of these materials and only for certain customer, we need to be able to sell a particular material possibley with different pricing conditions each time.

Ie Mat1 is made up of a 2 part price Case and Internal. These prices will be fixed per month so these should be OK. The complication comes in that we need to offer some customer the option to have delivery cost included in the Case price.

So for a Collected Item

Case = 100 GBP

Internal = 25 GBP so Total to customer is 125 GBP

For a delivered Item, Same Material

Case = 125 (Inc Freight)

Internal = 25 so total to Customer is 150 GBP.

My question is, can we use Variant Config purely for selecting which option a customer want's Ie Delivered or Undelivered and then for each option have different pricing condition put on to a Sales Order.

Many Thanks

Paul Gray

You can have VC characteristics affect pricing by using Variant Pricing Conditions. Essentially, you can create a characteristic that will hold a pricing condition and value. For more help on how to do it, you can see page 222 of the [LO-VC manual|http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/Print46c/en/data/pdf/LOVC/LOVC.pdf].

hello, friend.

the use of variant configuration has impact on Production Planning and Materials Management. in standard, a configurable material is not carried in stock... it is a made-to-order item. deliveries are sourced from sales order stock.

nevertheless, even with configurable materials it is possible to source from unrestricted stocks if variant matching is activated.

if your intention is to reflect price differences based on component, further based on customer within a validity period, may i recommend the use of the simple SD BOM instead. you may select item category group LUMF for your main item, and retain NORM for your components. your components will be relevant for pricing. you can, in addition, define discounts/surcharges with reference to the components.

hope this helped you.

regards.
