PI7.0 Vs PI7.1 menu differences for configuration

Former Member

Hi,

We have installed PI7.1 and have found several documents and BLOGS on step-by-step guides for setting up different scenarios. However, the screen shots and menu configuration screens are all based on PI7.0 and not on PI7.1.

For example, Satish Jaiswal created a document "A Step-by-Step Guide on IDoc-to-File Using Business Services in the XI Integration Directory". This is a great document, but only applies to PI7.0 screens and menus for configuration steps.

Does anyone have any documentation or blog links that point to the differences between 7.0 and 7.1 configuration screens? Maybe someone has created a similar document like the one created by Satish that is specific to PI7.1.

Any help is this area is very much appreciated.

Regards,

Rick

Hi Rick,

I have used all 3 versions of Xi - XI3.0, Pi7.0 and Pi7.1...... and I dont think the configuration fields have changed for any of them.... For e.g. in the File adapter you quoted the the Config parameter are organized in tabs... you will find the same fields in there

here is something to get you started... a cool feature in Pi7.1 - Folders -

Hi,

Please have look on major diff between PI 7.0 Vs PI 7.1.

PI 7.1 totally SOA based, Modeling, Service Registry etc

PI 7.1 Message Interface called u201CService Interfaceu201D and Message Mapping called u201CObject Mappingu201D

PI 7.1 includes new features u201Cfolder conceptsu201D Modeling, Parameterize mapping

PI 7.1 came up with Enhancement for mapping concepts Like Lookup JDBC, RFC and SOAP (without creating UDF) Re-usable User Defined Functions Parameterize mapping etc

PI 7.1 includes Advance Adapter Engine (AAE) concepts which by pass Integration engine IE

PI 7.1 provides new concept of XML Validation in IE and AE for incoming and outgoing messages.

These are the new Features that 7.1 has, and the rest are the difference ..

1. Enterprise Services Repository as a central storage location for enterprise service definitions and lifecycle management data for all enterprise services (Concept of Folders,.

2. Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration (UDDI) 3.0u2013compliant services registry for runtime management of enterprise services.

3. Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (ESOA), Global Data Types, Modeling Tool Concept.

4. Improved support for standards such as Web Service Reliable Messaging (WS-RM), WS Policy, Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML).

5. Support Business Activity Monitoring (BAM).

6. Advanced Adapter Engine Features (Eg. Bypass Integration Engine Process)

7. Enhancement for Mapping (Eg. Re-usable User Defined Functions, Look-up function reads multiple fields, Specify mapping parameters at configuration time, Synchronous DB RFC lookups, Message Packing etc.)

8. Extended support for high volume scenarios

9. Business Activity Monitoring for process definition of milestone monitoring (event correlation).

10. Improved SAP NetWeaver Administrator support for central configuration and administration of both mediated and point-to-point scenarios.

11. XML payload validation and validations using JAVA.

12. Process editor modeling enhancements: step groups, integrated alert management and configurable parameters.

13. Integration of human interaction (generic user decision).

14. Language dependent texts for end-user display.

15. WS-BPEL 2.0 adoption (Preview and implementation BPEL4People, BPLE-SPE Simple User Defined Functions can be configured directly in the process.)

as of now we may not have a blog(s) which will give info about the entire ID in 7.1....but if it is critical for you to know then the information is already documented in help...check if this provides you with relevant information:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/7c/7c33419026f423e10000000a155106/content.htm

you can even search in help with a particular name (like Direct Connection) to know more

Hi Abhishek,

I have been going through the help. It it helping with the definitions. We are new to PI and don't have any experience with the 7.0 version and this is why the step-by-step guides are not much help as we are using the 7.1 version.

For example:

In step 2 "Maintain IR (Integration Repository) of the above mentioned document, the procedure is to Import the S/W Component and IDoc structure. It says to Open Integration Repository and then Import your software components information which has been created in SLD to IR.

The screen shot shows the title to be "Design: Integration Builder" and the menu is Tools -> Transfer from System Landscape Directory -> Import Software Component Versions.

The 7.1 version title is "Configuration: Integration Builder" and does not have this menu item.

I will continue to look through the help and go from there.

Any other help will be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Rick

Hi,

There are some main differences between 7.0 and 7.1

As you have mentioned,

The screen shot shows the title to be "Design: Integration Builder" and the menu is Tools -> Transfer from System Landscape Directory -> Import Software Component Versions.

Design: Integration Builder in 7.0 -> Enterprise Services Builder in 7.1

You can also import Software Component Versions in 7.1.

Object -> New (Ctrl + N)

Work Areas -> Software Component Version -> Select Import from SLD radio button to achieve the same result in 7.1

And for example, Message Interface in 7.0 is now Service Interface in 7.1

Hi SAP noob,

Hi SAP noob,

I did mark this complete and gave all points, but I have one more question so I marked it as unanswered and gave your last answer the 6 points instead of the 10. I will adjust it back after this question.

On step 3 of the document in Maintain ID (Integration Directory), we are able to create one new Configuration Scenario. Then, it says to select the newly created Configuration Scenario -> Service Without Party -> etc... We don't see the navigation to select "Service Without Party".

Can you point me in the right direction again?

I really appreciate your help!

Thanks

Hi Aamir,

Thank you for your response. I will check the blogs. I am a little unclear with your direction. Can you specify the direct path navigation for seeing the "communication component without party" in PI 7.1?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Rick

We don't see the navigation to select "Service Without Party"

Now in PI7.1 we have Communication Component.....and Business System, Business Component (Business service of 7.0), Integration Process come under Communication Component tag...

Hi Abhishek,

Thanks for your response. I will take a look at the mentioned links. I am new to PI alltogether and don't even have the 7.0 experience. So, the 7.0 blogs and documents can be confusing.

Rick
