We are starting to put together a plan for an upgrade to ECC6 from ECC5. At the same time we need to upgrade our SQLServer 2000 databases to SQLServer 2005. The QA and PRod systems are each on separate 2-node clusters as well, which I think will need to be upgraded to 2005 clusters.
Do you have any recommendations regarding upgrading both database and ECC at the same time, or would it be preferable to complete the upgrade of the database and then do the ECC upgrade.
I know that by doing both could introduce complexity in tracking down any problems that may crop up as part of upgrades. Normally standard practice would say to do them separately. However, downtime and the need to get these upgrades completed in a timely manner are also part of the need to roll them together.
Thanks for any insights and suggestions you may have.
Laurie
Thanks, we have decided it will be better to do the sql server upgrade then follow on with the ECC upgrade.

Hello Laurie
I would strongly suggest that you go for database upgrade first and then go for SAP upgrade,
I understand downtime is a issue but as you already said there might be many complexeties that might appear when you do both together but anyway you have to do them seperately
Also when you upgrdae your database, you will be able to sort the problems if any that come after database upgrade,so its better you complete the database upgrade and then go for ECC
