Excel Inplace Functionality with MS Office Excel 2007 and SAP GUI 7.10

Hi All,

although there are many Excel threads my problem seems to be a bit different so I start a new one - hope this is ok.

We use SAP GUI for Windows 7.10 patchlevel 3 for our SAP NW 2004s and since we updated from Excel 2003 (Win XP) to Excel 2007 (Win Vista) we experience the following problem:

Whenever we try to show a list (e.g. out of transaction sq01 or se16, ...) in Excel format using the Excel Inbound functionality the Excel Grid is opened in the existing SAP window but the Grid remains empty.

Not even the header line of the table is displayed as I read in many other postings here and there is also no error message displayed.

When we use the more complicated way via the XXL object from the menu Export -> Excel Spreadsheet -> Table ->..... Excel is opened in a new window and the data is exported without any problems.

Just the Excel inbound function which would be much more comfortable doese not work any more.

Do you think that an upgrad of our SAP GUI to the latest patchlevel 13 would resolve the problem or is there any other issue in combination with MS Excel 2007 and Vista?

Many thanks for your appreciated feedback in advance and best regards

Günter

No need to worry about backend, its a Microsoft issue!!

Try reproducing it without SAP Inplace functionality.

I am able to copy and space special to embed the excel. I can also double click it and it is still there and functionalble.

Hi All,

many thanks for your help.

Meanwhile I have found the solution for my problem - it's exactly what's described in SAP note 1094693 and it is an Office issue.

The only thing I had to do is to check the box "Trust access to the VBA project object model".

Thanks to all and best regards

Hi gurus,

We have configured the options in office regarding the secutiry in macros and VB.

Sometimes it works when we want to show the data in the excel inplace, clicking on Ctrl + Shift + F7 or in the button. But sometimes not. It is really dificult to reproduce the issue. 90% times works . When it fails we restart the PC or we close all SAP windows or we close the excel application (not inplace excel) and after that it works!.

Do you have any clue about this behaviour? We are totally lost and maybe during next week we will update our SAPGUI client, currently we are in the 17 patch.

Thanks guys .

Hello Gunter,

This is a Microsoft issue. You can reproduce this issue without using SAP In-place functionality. This issue occurs with the Office 2007 SP2 (issue not happens in SP1).

When we embed the Excel in Word and double click on embedded Excel, it will open an empty excel window.

Thanks and Regards,

Hello,

I hate to ask this question, but did you check your MS Excel 2007 Security Options?

1) MS Office Button >>Excel options (at the bottom).

2) Trust Center>>Trust Center Settings>>Macro Settings.

3) Enable radio button (Enable All macro's ( not recommeded;potentially dangerous code can run).

4) Check the box called Trust access to the VBA project object model.

Gunter,

There are many isues wiht MS Office 2007 and SAPGui 7.10 - have you checked SAP notes? I seem to remember one about ALV grids. Some of my users are having issues with Excel 2007 and SAPGui 7.10 patch level 10, and SAP has asked us to upgrade to patch 13.

Good luck,

Diane

We have upgraded to patch 13. This issue remains unresolved. We are still getting the blank Excel sheets.
