Hi Experts,
Can anybody please tell me,
I have 4 component in BOM say A,B,C & D.
In Routing there are 5 operations.
My requirement is as follow
1. For 0010 operation I need component A,B & C
2. For 0020 operation I need component A & D
3. For 0030 operation I need component B & C
4. For 0040 operation I need component A,B & D
5. For 0050 operation I need component A,C & D
Please tell me how I can assign these component to that operation.

Hi Raja,
As mentioned above if al this 4 components A,B,C,D are maintained as a single line items in BOM you can assign them only to one operation in routings.
But if the requirements is like that you need different quantitys of A,B,C,D at different operations you can maintaion them as as a seprate line items in BOMu2019s and allocate them to respective operation.
Ex of BOM can be
allocated to routing operation
BOM position component quantity
0010 A 1 0010
0020 B 1 0010
0030 C 1 0010
0040 A 1 0020
0050 D 1 0020
0060 B 1 0030
0070 C 1 0030
0080 A 1 0040
0090 B 1 0040
0100 D 1 0040
0110 A 1 050
0120 C 1 0050
0130 D 1 0050
Hope you got your answer.
Regards
Ritesh

Hi SmanS & RSD,
Smart answer.
If I maintain BOM with multiple line item, then this BOM quantity will get copy to production order.
Suppose Base quantity of FG BOM is 1unit & I mantain component quantity 1 unit for all multiple component, then when I create production order for say quantity 10,then in BOM all component get multiple quantity i.e 10.
Means I maintain A component 4 times in BOM,then it shows total 40 unit in order. As my requiremet is only 10 unit of A for producing 10 unit FG material.
Then what to do. I have to always change quantity in order.
Raja.
Raja,
In this case you need to maintain the quantity of the component in the fraction so the total quantity won't exceed 1 ea.
i.e.
0010 A 0.5
0020 A 0.2
0030 A 0.15
0040 A 0.15
Or make the base quantity of the BOM as 10 or 100 & maintain the component in multiple line items with separarte quantity so that it won't exceed the required quantity 10 or 100 all together.
I.e. For base quantity of 10,
0010 A 5
0020 A 2
0030 A 1.5
0040 A 1.5
Hope this helps you.

Hi raja,
Although your question is already answered,
The solution i proposed was valid in case when you need altogether new quantity of component on different operation.
But if your component is appearing only one time with one quantity , physically how you can assign component to one operation and after completion of operation how you expect it to be same as it has been before start of operation (i.e its attribute doesnu2019t got change as you must have perform some machining/assembly with it)
Just consider the case you explained, if you are assigning A,B,and C to 0010 so the out put of operation 0010 will be certainly different then same A,B,and C.
If you want to recognize this out as a different material number it will result in addition of BOM level as well as routing level.

Hi
Split the item required quantity into how many time u reqired and enter in the bom
say bold you need 40 nos. for first operation 200 and second operation 200.
you create two line item for the same material with the split in the required base qty

I think in your case you should maintain the component multiple times as items of your header BOM. This way you will be able to assign it multiple times in the routing.
Try & revert back

Raja,
Multiple assignments of single line item of the BOM is not possible in R/3.
To map your requirement you need to maintain the item in multiple lines & assign to the desired operations.
Hope this helps you.

Raja,
In your example the component A is the part of FG BOM with quantity as 20 KG overall.
While entering it in the BOM you need to maintain the A 4 times with separate quantity.
I.e.
0010 A 7 kg
0020 A 3 kg
0030 A 4 kg
0040 A 6 kg
Now assgn these line items to individual 4 operations in the rotuing.
Repeat the same for other components too.
Hope this helps you.
