Hi All,
In my project we are planning to use Activity elements for further detailing of costs etc.. Also we are interested to post comitments and costs at AE. Is this possible? If yes how?
We have brought in the field Activity element in FB50 and ME21N. But we are unable to make assignment to AE. Can any one help me on this?

Hi ,
as far as i understood, we are talking about the activity elements from costing point of view. As far as I known, there is absolute no difference between activity and activity elements, both are so called costs-collector from controlling point of view.
So, what kind of problem do you face if you enter the activity element instead of activity?

You cannot allocate object as below:
Materials,
Assign milestones
Documents
Production resources/tools
Activity elements do not have relationships
1. Above features you can use with activity
2. Above features can't use with activity element
Date monitoring like project BID phase can cover under activity element.

Hi,
You can use activityf elements for further elaboration of internal activtieis and not for material component.
For example, you have an internal activity is intended to plan hours. for example see below
Activity A1
AElement A1.1
Usually we used input the WC and AType and hours are planned at Activity level but due to elaboration of Activity into AEs, we shift or rather plan WC, Atype and hours on AEs only.
You can book hours through CATS on AEs.
As far as attachment of material components, its not possible since Acct Assginment category does not goes down below NW and Activity.
So you can have multiple internal activities so that each activity will have one component attached to it. Otherwise make note to SAP for development tof use AE as account assignment in PR and PO.

Activity element can be used for the PR, etc but it is always advisable to use activity for better control on the project.
Activity element is normally used to track minutes details of each activity only.
Anyway the activity element can also be settled as per the requiremnt. Again this calls for specific business requirment.

Hi,
You can create PR for external activity elements, later it will convert into PO...GR...GI
but activity element is assigned to activity and
activity is assigned to network.
so..when you will crate PR & PO for Activity Element it will be shown commitment for Network level and later actual cost will be shown on Network Level then on WBS Level.
In ME21N you can not use Activity Element as acct. assg. category
In ME21N transaction you can enter following acct. assg. categories related to PS.
N Network
P Project
Q Proj. make-to-order
D Indiv.cust./project
