Steps involved in Back Order processing

Hi Friends

My shipping dead lines are in the past for an item in SA. Thus delivery for the same is on back order. I know back order processing is required to deliver the item and it can be done from CO06.

Will please tell me what I should do after I give plant and material in CO06, for back order processing?

Pls explain in details.\
