Problem with SAP_BASIS Patch

Hi Everybody ,

I have installed a Developement server and a Quality server with ECC6. With windows server 2008 and ms sql server as a Database.I am trying to update the sap_basis patch from level 13 to 14 . While updating I am getting

Error in phase: XPRA_EXECUTION

Reason for error: TP_STEP_FAILURE

Return code: 0012

Error message: OCS Package SAPKB70014, tp step R, return code

0012

In ST22 It says Syntax error in program "CL_CLS_ATTR_VALUE_ASSIGNMENT==CP

But when i tried to install the same sap_basis patch in my production server I am not getting any error and everything is went fine. I wrote a message to SAP regarding this but they want to open the service connection. Sine we are having some network issues in our company it was not possible.Since my production server is going well can I restore my developement server using my production server backup (something like a system copy) but the hostname and the SID of both the servers are differrent.

Can anyone give me a suggestion on this as it is very urgent. Please

Regards,

Pradeep

Hi,

As you have restorethe development System from the Production system.you need to perform the system copy to change the Sid.

But it should be better that you have you development system back and then try to resolve it. because you would be having all the development in the Development system.

It is never suggested to system copy on the Development Landscape.

you can download the system copy guide from Service market place.

Sorry if I am wrong , am i getting this error because i am running two instances on the same server.

Please go to lthe logs and expand and tell me the error that you are getting while applying the support pack.

Hi

Use the import log of the add-in installation tool for the phase XPRA_EXECUTION, & post the errors from the same.

For details refer: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/32/d08d3880b8e060e10000009b38f842/content.htm

Read

Note 822379 - Known problems with Support Packages in SAP NW 7.0x AS ABAP

Specially under, Procedure for termination in the phase XPRA_EXECUTION

That should point you in the right direction.

HI Pradeep,

The reason for this error in Dev server is that you may have so many open developements in Dev server which may cause the issue.

I have seen so many clients who are trying to upgrade to BASIS -14 and getting the error. Even I have faced the error in the same Phase while appying BASIS -14.

So can you please provide me the point of error from import log of the Patch (Means the error lines from import log) ? So that if the point matches, I can tell you the steps which I have performed for correcting the error in my system.

Regaridng the system copy option, If you are using the ABAP+J2EE stacks in ECC6, SImply backup and restore from your Prod to Dev wont work. You have to take the export of Java files also from Prod server and import them into Dev server...may be a tough task.....

But please note that after restoring the backup from prod server, your most of the developement will be lost...Because in Dev server you may have lot of more development which may not reach in Prod till now.

With Regards,

Saurabh
