Regarding 3.X datasources or 7 datasources

Hi,

I need some suggestions regarding selection of 3.X datasources or 7 datasources.

In my project I have to start from scratch, BI content activation.

Till now I have activated datasources in SAP R3. While replicating the datasources, it asks for 7 or 3.X.

I have selected 3.X datasources.

Please suggest -

(1) If i have selected the right option.

(2) When should I select 3.X flow and when 7 flow.

(3) Here I have to implement LO data flow like SD, MM, Purchasing, Inventory, PM and COPA.

(4) Can I make two flows- one 3.X and one 7, from a single data source, using Emulate datasource.

What does Emulate datasource do?

Is there any thumb rule for selecting 3.X data flow or 7 data flow. Are there any issues if I make 3.X data flow for every module.

Hi Saurabh,

1. There is no 'right' option as such in this case. What version of the DataSource you choose to install is your choice. If you've replicated the 3.x DS, then you will get the 3.x flow while installing business content in BI (transfer rules, update rules). If you replicate the DS as a BI 7 DS, you will get the BI 7 data-flow while installing business content in BI.

2. You should choose the data flow based on your requirements. Its your choice entirely.

3. You can use the same steps to install the data-flow for all the modules.

4. I'm not quite sure if its possible to have two data-flows from a single DS, but even if it is possible (which I doubt), it would be highly inadvisable.

HI,

While replicating if u select 7.0 then u can make two flows i.e 3.x and 7....if u select 3.x then only 3.x data flow u have to follow means Transferrules,update rules etc....
