SMD instance not started after installation of NW7.0 SR3

Hi,

I installed NW7.0 SR3 central/DB instance on AIX/Oracle.

But, the I cannnot see the SMD instance in server processes.

When I installed on Windows, I found the SDM instance in MMC and it automatically starts at the same time the central instance starts.

Do I have to configure some settings or change prameter to start the SMD instance?

(Does the SMD "START profile" define these settings?)

And is it the default the SMD instance does not start when the SAP system is starting?

If you have some ideas, please help.

Hi ,

Please be clear in your Question.SMD and SDM both are different things.

SDM is a Java tool that is run by calling the ./RemoteGui.sh and when the Java System starts this service starts automatically.

SMD Agent is Solution manager Diagnostic and you need to start it manually by calling the Script smdstart.sh.This never starts or stop when you start or stop the sap System.It has its own profiles

Please revert back if not clear.

And I'm sorry for my ambiguous question.

I wanted to ask about "SMD agent".

And your reply was enough fruitful to clear my question.

I could understand that I'm not necessary to stop any SMD processes or instances to disable it.
