      Hi Amit,

About Work Center : Work Center is a person, a group of persons, a machine or a group of machines.

Just understand the above lines. this is the basic defination of work center independent from any PP or PM work center.

Now, if work center is created to perform Maintenance tasks with * work center category 0005 * those work centers are called maintenance work centers.

( Generally persons or group of persons are created as work center in PM)

If work center is created to perform Production tasks with * work center category 0002 * those work centers are called PP work centers.

(Generally Machines or group of machines are created as work centers in PP)

In Plant maintenance, work centers can be defined in Hierarchy i.e. work center heirarchy is possible.

take an example: you have created a work center with a group of people. you need to define who would be person responsible for this group & also you can define the persons heirarchy with the integration of HR.( e.g. Manager-Senior Engineer- Engineer-Associate Engineer- Senior Fitter- Fitter)

The difference in one word is : Both are work centers but having different category & being used to perform different kind of tasks.

For the trasaction : i would only like to say that while creating from PM nodes by t-code IR01, system give you default work center category 0005.

I hope i am able to solve ur query for some extent.

      Thanks,

    Dear Amit,

There are no different procedures to create Main Work Center & Work Center.

Main Work center is the responsible work center. It is a work center that is in charge when a maintenance task is performed. It is assigned in PM Order header and equipment/F.L. master data.

Work center is machine or person who actually performs the maintenance work. It is assigned in maintenance order operation tab.

IR01 is the T-Code for Work Center creation.

    Hi

There is no different way to create Main work center and Work center

Check out these definitions... hope so u can understand it

    The Main Work Center

The main work center usually represents one person or a department, responsible for ensuring that the maintenance work in an order is executed by the work centers performing the individual operations.

    The Performing Work Center

The performing work center usually represents one person or a group of people who perform the maintenance work in the operations of an order.

    • Dear Amit,

Run the transaction OIOI, remove the tick mark of 'NoCheck' in Capacity Availability screen area.

If you do this setting, then during order processing capacity will be checked automatically whether it is available or not and further decision can be taken upon selection of 1,2 or 3 shown in same screen area in OIOI transaction.

Total Man Power for Main WC (MNC-ELE) = MNC-Tech + MNC-FIT. => It is not right. Because both work centers are different. There is no relation between Main Work Center & Work Center in terms of capacities.

You always create only Work Center and then while assigning in equipment/order you define it as Main Work Center. Actually there is no as such Main Work Center , only once you assign it in Equipment/FL/Order then only it becomes Main Work Center.
