Dear All,

Thank you very much for the detailed explination.

Now i have 1 question.

I am using Strategy 50.

I had PIR of 100qty for April month,in that 90qty have been consumed by sale orders. Now I left with 10qty PIR for april month.

If i create sale order for May month system consuming PIR of May month.April month PIR remain unchanged.

Now my question is, can i delete April month PIR?Bcos now system is not consuming this PIR,there is no use this PIR now.

Thanks & regards,

Basavaraj.

HI,

In the Define Planning Strategy configuration you have something called Planning Indicator which will decide whether the PIR's to Netted OR not.

Goto Tcode : OPPS and select one of the strategy and goto details you will fine the above indicator under Reqts Type of Ind Reqts.

Example :

Planning Indicator

The planning indicator determines which of the following is valid for the planned independent requirement:

Net requirements planning

Gross requirements planning

Individual requirements planning

Hope this will help you.

Hi,

I've never seen this expression in SAP online help / OSS notes. Where did you here it?

There's net requirement calculation in SAP: it means you consider your stock during planning (MRP run), whilst gross requirement claculation means you do not consider your stock level during MRP run - this can be used in MTS environment.

In planning strategy 40 SAP considers both PIRs and SOs. SOs consume PIRs based on material master settings (backward/forward consumption). Maybe the expression you are asking is in connection with this (SOs quantities reduce PIR quantities and that's why SAP calculates with the SO quantities and with reduced ("netted") PIR quantities).

In this thread you can see that this terminology is used for PIR quantities reduced by SO quantities:

So, it seems SO quantities reduces PIR quantities and this is called as "netting" (by certain people).
