Problem with Xcelsius Integration

Hi Michael,

I am integrating MII 11.5 with Xcelsius 2008.

I went through the pdf document to perform integration and tried to create a similar application but instead of using MII Transaction call, I am using Direct Connection to MII Query whose output is transformed to xml format required for Xcelsius using the xsl file given by you. The transform and Query is working fine when I run it through browser url.

But when i configure the same in XML Data Connection in Xcelsius and when clicked on Preview XML I don't see any data. I just see the standard xml structure like this

- <data>

- <variable name="SAPMII_1">

- <row>

<column />

<column />

I would like to see data on line chart coming from MII 11.5

I guess I am missing out something here....

Please help me....

    Hi Adarsh,

    I am not familiar with Xcelsius, but will try to get someone capable to take a look at your problem. Have you tried to set it up using a transaction instead of query? I would give that a try while I look for help.

    I have done some testing and am able to reproduce your output (I knew it looked familiar).

    When you setup your XML data source, you must map the output to a range in the spreadsheet before you will be able to see output in the preview.

    Click on the SAP_MII1 source and set the range (something like Sheet1!$B$2:$C$10 if you expect your output to be 2 columns wide and 9 rows). Also, it helps in Xcelsius to place sample data in the cells where you are mapping the XML source to.

    I realize it doesn't make sense that the 'Preview XML' button requires the output to be mapped, it will likely not be the last thing you find in Xcelsius 2008 that doesn't make sense 😉

    Let me know if this helps.

    Hey Adarsh,

    I have build some dashboards in Xcelsius for SAP MII and I had exactly the same experience. The problem is that there is a bug in Xcelsius which doesn`t load your asked information directly into excel. However, there is another way to test:

    You should look how the SAPMII XML is strucured when you use the direct link (the link which you use in Xcelsius to import the data). Now you should click in Xcelsius on XML-example. Now you can compare these two structures. If they look the same (same amount of rows and same amount of collumns) then the data will be fine. If they dont look the same, please ensure that your input field selection in Xcelsius has the same amount of collumns and rows as your SAP MII output.

    Now you are ready to create an export file (please select HTML). While creating this HTML, Xcelsius automaticly also generates an SWF file. You should import those files (select them both at the same time) into SAP MII.

    Now you are ready to do your test (press test button in SAP MII) and see if it all works 😉

    Good luck!

    Best Regards,

    SAP MII Consultant
