Hi Experts,
I need to know some information about SAML and SAP EP as I found two different SAP help topics , that made me confused:
From http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/94/695b3ebd564644e10000000a114084/content.htm:
u201CYou can use SSO with SAML assertions with all usage types of SAP NetWeaver. In this case, the underlying AS Java or AS ABAP supports the configuration and execution of the SSO and the SAP NetWeaver system acts as a SAML destination site. In addition, the portal can act as a SAML authority, or a SAML source site, to issue SAML assertions.u201D
And another one is:
From the NW04S help library: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/02/60d04e7971354890ecbde886363d1d/frameset.htm:
u201CThe AS Java accepts SAML assertions for Single Sign-On. However, it cannot act as an SAML authority that issues such assertions.u201D
Is there any successful story about "portal can issue SAML assertions", if yes, Could you please let me know about the process.
Thanks,

Caution: this refers to Web Service Security (message-based authentication).
Do not mix this up with interactive web applications (like in Portal scenarios).
There, SAML 2.0 is of relevance - which, however, is not subject of the quoated online help documentation (but will be supported in a future NetWeaver release).
Best regards,
Wolfgang
