BW role upload to Portal

Hi,

We have been uploading certain BW menu roles as worksets into the EP for quite some time without any problems. We migrated our BW environment to a different server (new hardware, new server name). We changed all the menu items with specific server name URL's to point to the new server and then uploaded the roles to the Portal. However, the worksets do not work now unless we use a DNS alias for the old server name.

Can someone tell me what or where we may be missing something that is still pointing to the old server name? The BW system name in the Portal was changed to the new server name and that is all that is listed in the worksets. Maybe there is something on the BW side we are missing??

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Rick

In the BI system definition in the portal system landscape directory, did you change all occurrences of the old hostname? Remember to use fully qualified domain names. Did the SID change? Make sure the services file and hosts file on the portal server are correct.

Are there different types of iViews in the generated workset? Does the problem happen for one type but not for another?

Are the URL iViews working without the need for the DNS redirection? Is it only the BW iViews which causes the problems? What sort of iViews are they - this can be found from the codelink property of the iView.

In the system landscape directory entry for the BW system, did you change the hostname in the connector and ITS and WAS sections?
