Dear All,
I want to compare the alternatives between Web Service and DB Connect to transfer the data into the SAP BW (oracle) from oracle database (Source System). The table/view can be defined in the source system (Oracle database).
Which alternative would you recommend? Are there reasons for it? What are the pros and the cons when we have the choice between using direct database access (DB Connect) or using web services?
As far as I know, for Web service we have to create a structure to define ABAP in BW, so that we can trigger the ABAP in the process chain to get the xml-file from the source system. With DB-Connect we don’t have this effort.
Thank you
Regards
Moha
Hi,
mainly the pro for DB connect is performance.
Furthermore the DB connect method is developed further as the SAP HANA Source System, while the Web Service Source System Connection is discontinued in BW/4
