Hi

If you really understand the meaning of backward and forward scheduling you will know why it is illogical to have only forward scheduling as default as first
Enclosed here with the threads which explain you about forward and backward scheduling
Forum post in ERP - Sales and Distribution (SD) General: Back scheduling
Forum post in ERP - Sales and Distribution (SD) General: backward scheduling
Please note by no way you can make system to perform forward scheduling first by default and that is illogical
If backward scheduling fails by customizing in t code OVLY you can control the system by not performing forward at all
That is only backward and stop after that
Hope this threads clarifies about forward scheduling and backward scheduling

Hi Ishikesh,
It is not possible to perform Forward scheduling as first by default. By default system performs backward scheduling and if the material availability date goes in the past or if the material is not sufficient then at that time system performs forward scheduling.
But you can perform backward scheduling only if you want.
Backward scheduling is performed 1st by default so that system can calculate all the times (transit time, loading time, transportation lead time and pick/packing time) and confirm whether material can be delivered on Customer's requested delivery date.
Therefore, system takes the customers req. del. date as an input and perform backward scheduling 1st. And forward scheduling is performed ONLY if date is in the past or qty is not confirmed.
Hope you will understand by this

Sagar

Hi,
I dont think its possible. The reason which i think is
1. Customer date which is the required delivery date must have been given the priority. So depends on that date all the other activity should be carried out.
2. By Forward scheduling you enforce the date to the customer, which is not possible in general business scenario. As there is general Proverb : Customer is King.
By the way this is my thinking. Other experts views are welcome.
So based on that Backward processing is default.
Thanks,
Raja
