UOM cahrecters length

Dear Experts,

I have a doubt regarding the UOM length, while creating UOM through T code CUNI in technical field, we enter the UOM, but the length of this field is 6 characterstics.

But for all practical purposes, this may not be sufficient. Some UOMs need more than 6 characteristics, Ex: kgf/cm2, lbf/in2 etc. where as these are mentioned in the SOPs since long back and auditors doesnt accept anything other than this format, I can also create the same as kg/cm2, but this requirement doesnt comply my statutory requirement.

Why SAP has provided only 6 characteristics is not understood.

Is there any other way of addressing the same?
