Its bit confusing situation , I explain below
As all of us know that Plant is unique in a company code . A Plant can not be assigned to multiple company codes . But I found in our system that one plant can be assigned to two different company codes.
how its possible ?
Example : we have two company codes 1000 and 1100 and I have created one p[lant 1001 and assigned it to co code 1000 but after that I again assigned this 1001 plant to company code 1100 . But system is not giving me and error that 1001 plant is already assigned to company code 1000 and can not be assigned to other co code
Please explain.. urgently ..
Hi, Bhushan,
I don't think there is a detect mechanism in SAP to check whether a plant is assigned to more than 1 company code. I did a test in the system as you descripted. Yes, I can assign one plant to 2 company codes and no warning message pop-up. I even checked TR that contains this change, there are still no messages.
Maybe we will encounter many problems if we assign 1 plant to more than 1 company code, you can test your configuration.
Anyway, just don't assign 1 plant to more than 1 company code.

Dear
Plant should be assigned to only one company code.one to one mapping.
But in our case. When you assign Plant A to company code A and again Plant A to company code B
second will overwrit the first.Plant A to company code A you cannot find in the table

Subash investigated right, the table T001K just has the new assignment, even you see 2 entries in the screen while doing it.
There is no option to really CHANGE the assignment in the overview, so the only option is to copy it or to create a new that will overwrite the old entry.
Take it as a feature, as it saves you the step to delete the old entry if you want reassign the plant to different company.
This assignments are made from consultants, consultants are not users, consultants should know what they are doing. In many other IMG acitivities is no check either.
So if we wanted to take Plant 1000 from Company 1000 and assign to Company 2000, would you just assign plant 1000 to Company 2000 and it will overwrite Company 1000. If you were using a new Purchase ORG and Sales ORG, I would think you would have to assign the new purchase org to the plant. Lastly, if there were any outsatanding Po's ,Sales Orders and production orders I am assuming they would have to be re entered since they are in a new company
Dear Mr.Jurgen
I am facing similar issue but in different way.
In my case, i have created plant by copying the reference 0001 plant. So, by default, system has assigned my new plant with company code 0001. When i try to modify the plant-company code assignment, system is throwing error "Plant SVNG is already assigned to company code 0001 Message no. OM850"
Thanks in advance
Thanks & Regards
Kumar

Hi,
A plant is unique in a sigle company code. You can not have two plants as same in a sigle company code. However in your case system treats separately for each companu code for transactions for that plant.
