upgrade to CRM 7.0 on Windows: supported operating systems

Dear all,

I'm going to upgrade our CRM 4.0 (SAP kernel 6.40, Windows 32Bit, non-unicode, oracle 9.2.0.6) to recently released CRM 7.0.

When checking supported platforms (http://service.sap.com/pam) I'm facing the following problem.

CRM 4.0 (kernel 6.40) is supported only for operating systems up to Windows Server 2003

CRM 7.0 (kernel 7.01) is supported only for operating systems since Windows Server 2008

CRM 7.0 upgrade guide "Customer Relationship Management 7.0 Support Release 1 (Windows/Oracle)" does not list further details on supported operating systems....just the link to service.sap.com/pam ;-(

The upgrade guide contains a note on upgradiong the operating system to 64-Bit,

"

You must migrate the operating system and database to 64-bit before the upgrade.

SAP only supports systems based on 64-bit on the target release.

"

The installation guide of CRM 7.0 contains several information on Windows Server 2003, so I suppose that either Win2003 was supported on the release date of the installation guide or it is still supported, but there is a mistake in PAM.

I can't find any sap note on this issue.

I think to perform the release upgrade on Win 2003 64Bit and afterwards migrate to Win 2008 64Bit would be the best solution.

Is there any "official" information from SAP on that issue?

I don't want to run the sap system on an unsupported platform, so any information would be welcome.

Best regards

Sascha
