Material type Change

Hi sap gurus,

Now i am chainging Material Type for these i have cleared all like stock,open orders but i am getting these error message

The material type cannot be changed.

The reasons for this are:

The old and new material types have different material type IDs.

ID of new material type:

No material type ID

ID of old material type:

Additionals

plz tell me how can i solve these problem

you should give the full detail to get the best help.

you hided the material types.

However, before you do MMAM, think about your design. Have you designed different number ranges for each material type? if you have, then you are screwing up this logic by using MMAM, because the material number will no change.

you probably cannot solve the problem.

as your two material types have different material type IDs

and SAP has defined a prerequisite for MMAM:

The Material type ID indicator (presently used only in Retail) must be the same for the old material type and for the new material type.

Hi

As suggestion given by all you can change Material type from one to other by using -Tcode -MMAM

Even through if you have stock is available system will allow to change if both belonging to similar material type.

as a standard practice you should clear stocks, open activities

Once you change the material type you can check the material for new material type in -MM60

you can get the material list for new material type

Hi,

You can change the material type through MMAM t.code , before that make sure there is no stock including stock in transit, and open orders.
