Authorisation issue in BPS

Hello,

We are heavily using our BPS functionality with several areas e.g. Salary Planning, Cost Centre Planning etc. As a result we have nearly 60 planning areas, 560 planning levels & planning functions (incl. FOX formulas) & packages within the same.

Now at the organisation level there is a special policy implemented which suggests that only restricted set of users would be allowed to access/process specific company code information. As a result, we have defined specific Z authorization objects & roles which would be assigned to those specific set of users.

Problem

However by doing so, it has started to prop up authorization error message when executing certain BPS planning sequences/functions etc. Interestingly, the authorization error only occurs for the planning levels which have company code included in the selection tab of the planning level & no values restricted for the same.

Proposed solution

To avoid the above situation the solution that we are thinking towards defining a BPS authorization variable & then include the same in all the planning levels where company code is included in the selection. Assuming 50% of the 560 planning levels to have company code included in the selection, we are looking at amending approximately 280 planning levels.

Constraint

Technically there are no issues in implement the above solution; however you can imagine the effort needed in terms of testing all the applications where these planning levels/functions/sequences are being used.

My question: Is this the only way to resolve the above situation?

It would be great if you can give your valuable inputs in this regards.

Regards,

Sri
