Not able to login with new LDAP user in portal..

All,

We have created a new user in our LDAP environment in Portal. ( not UME ). I am able to view the user id in Identity management and assigned the necessary roles. but, i am unable to login using the new user id. Can anybody please tell me what is missing here ? Thanks in advance.

Check the password again.

"user authentication failed"..

my colleague was telling me to do some modification in LDAP user by login as UME admin user..

LDAP admin says that the user id and the initial password he gave is fine..

Hi Addy,

As Raghu said, this seems to be a password problem.

Log into the Portal as an User administrator.

Find the user and Click on Modify.

In User Information, Add a new password.

Then try to login with the given user id again with the new password.

One more thing is if you have only read permissions for the LDAP users, then there is nothing to do in the portal. You need to check only in the Externl user directory.

If you have write permisisons then you can reset your password from the portal itself.

Perhaps use the Web Diagtool provided by SAP in note 1045019 to trace a failed logon. You should see if the authentication fails due to security policy on the UME side or if there is a LDAP error indicating a problem outside of SAP

In the portal/java useradmin tool, when you search for the user and select it, in the details area what is the unique id? hat will show whether it is stored in the LDAP or not. Most sites don't allow write access to LDAP from the portal.

Resolved by LDAP admin..he created a new password and its ok now. Thankyou all.
