Defined Variable As Dimension but it see like Measure

Greetings, I defined a dimension variable but when I clicked Ok it see like measure. The variable is defined the following way:

=If(Count(<New Status>) > 1) Then "Duplicated" Else "No Duplicated"

The variable return character no number. Any one have any idea ?
