Hi,

regarding the Swaps you have mentioned.. you cant get a clear cut value what is required.

In swaps there are two types parameter one is Space available for the Buffer and the Directory entries.

If your swaps is high please check the % free space and % free directory entries for the particular buffer.

Depending on the Space allocated and the usage for example if program buffer size is some 300MB and more swaps is observed you can increase it further to 400MB or so further it depends on the RAM.

For your information Refer to the following note:

Most of the buffer related information is there in the above notes

And also refer:

Hope this will help you.

Hi

For buffer swaps issues:

1) Goto St02--> see if any red alerts, click on it

2) From the susequent screen you would have an option to check the history of that buffer, if it's consistently showing red alert , you may have to modify it.

3) For which see the current value, from screen for that buffer, find the parameter controlling swap size for that buffer.

4) You may change via RZ10, usually a 20% increase from present value is recommended.

NOTE: varying swap space affects paging.

Note check buffer history:

From the initial R/3 screen, choose Tools ->Administration -> Monitor->Performance -> Setup/Buffers ->Buffers -> Goto -> Performance database -> This server history

Hi,

Have you changed any parameters or it is sap standard value?

If it is sap standard value, you may have to tune according to your requirement

In st02 if u go to detail anlysis you can see 10 days of data. in that observe the following thing.

Total allocated, free space and total directory entries and available directory entries.

If the ratio of this number to the number of requests is very high, this indicates that the configuration of the buffer is too small. In this case, you should increase the parameter

further you have any doubts please revert back.
