Purpose of the job - RSWEQSRV

Hello All,

I'm an SAP PI expert and I have been asked by the basis team to determine whether or not to schedule an SAP standard program called RSWEQSRV. Problem is I'm not able to understand what this program deals with and due to that I'm unable to suggest whether or not to schedule it. Could someone please explain to me what this program does ?

Please so some of your own due diligence before asking questions. I just googled this program and got 177 results, and in the first result, a former member posted a good answer. I've pasted it here.

I'm not sure how detailed information You are looking for, but propably You should change schedule of jobs. Here is quote from SAP XI/PI help:

Managing the correct processing of the event queue: SWEQSRV

Every minute

This job is automatically scheduled by transaction SWF_XI_CUSTOMIZING.

This is an optional periodical task for the BPE. The frequency can be changed by using transaction SWEQADM.

Clean-up of workflow system:

SWWCLEAR

Every few minutes

This job is automatically scheduled by transaction SWF_XI_CUSTOMIZING.

It deletes the job logs for SWWDHEX and SWWERRE.

Thanks for your answer. But I don't understand why you thought I posted this question without looking for it by myself. I checked in scn site and I didnt come across the answer you have posted here. I checked in support.sap site next and even there they explain a few things but no where I could see the mention of the purpose of this job. To be frank I still don't know what a workflow means as I have not worked on it. Also this deals with BPE whereas my experience has been mostly on single stack where there is no BPE at all. So, I needed clearer explanation and that's why I had to post the question here.

So, this job is pertaining to only the processes running in BPE ? In our project, we don't have any ccBPMs created. Would that mean running this job is not needed or is there any other workflows or processes that could be running ? Also does this job takes care of just deleting the logs of the workflows ?

Hi Ajeya,

Sorry to say that sometimes Google can find things that SCN can't. The post I referred to was an older post on a previous incarnation of SCN.

The programs listed above are required for any SAP system which is running SAP Business Workflow (I don't know about BPE or CCBPM, sorry). These programs can be set up as periodic jobs via transaction SWU3. If you don't set up these jobs, things that one expects workflow to do, such as react to an event in the system, will simply not happen.

The same goes for deadline monitoring and error processing.

There are a number of tutorials about SAP Workflow - and even though they may be a few years old, they are very helpful to someone starting on that journey. You can find them if you search (Google) 'help.sap.com workflow tutorial'.
