Absence counting for Period Work Schedule

Hi,

I have a group of employees who can work any 5 days from 7 in a week. They must be able to enter absences on all 7 days so I have configured a period work schedule with planned on all 7 days, however if they enter a 'blanket' absence from Monday to Sunday only 5 days must be deducted from their leave quota. I have been told that managers won't enter substitutions so I am wondering how I achieve this? They must use the same absence type as all other employees who may legitimately work 6 or 7 days in a week so I can't do it through a counting rule attached to the absence type. I was wondering whether it is possible to achieve this through period work schedule counting class? If so, how?
