Jsp CompilingException sometimes not shown

I'm working on an adaption of the crm b2b application. I've noticed that I don't get to see the CompilingExceptions for all pages.

For example if I change welcome.jsp in the crm/isa/web/b2b and try to use a member that don't exist like <%= WebUtil.notExistingFunction()%>. Then I see an 500 internal server error with some stack trace information to point me in a direction to what is wrong.

If I on the other hand do the same erroneous change in orderstatusdetail.jsp in crm/tc/web/ecommercebase DC, I get a blank page as response.

Does anyone know what is causing the difference?

Does it have anything to do with the DC where the change is made?

Can I see the error for the blank page in a trace? In that case what configuration is needed?

I forgot to give the version of our sytems. We're adapting the b2b application in crm 6.0 and are thus working on NWDI 7.0.
