Field 'material goup' need to be made optional during PO creation

Dear Friends,

I want to maintain the field 'material group' as optional while creating a PO line item with item category 'D'. Is this possible?

Pl suggest.

Hi,

You can make the field Material group optional in PO. Goto spro-mm-purchasing-purchase order-define screen layout at document level, here choose me21n and click where in basic data item , you can find material group , make it optional entry and save it.

Now if you create a PO the field material group will be optional.

But you can not make the field optional with itemcatagory D. Normally if you use item category and account assignment , you must enter the material group.

Hi,

You have the material group both on PO item and service level (EKPO-MATKL and ESLL-MATKL).

Please be informed that the material group is not updated at service level automatically by changing the

material group in the item. Services can have different material groups, therefore you must change the material group at service level afterwards.

For checking the field selection on purchasing (PO item) level please use the note 30316 to find out which field selection keys are used while creating of the PO.

For ESLL-MATKL please check: SPRO - materials management - external services management - Define Screen Layout - for field selection keys 4, ME21, ME22, NB, PT9...

got to

IMGMMPODefine Screen Layout at Document LevelME21n and there in details go to basic data n item..

make material group optional...

In the feild for reference in AKTH, make the field material group as optional and save.

I did this, assigned the field ef key AKTH to doc type. But still it is asking to enter material/service group

while creating PO for that doc type.

Hi,

Even if you make the field optional , when you use the Item category D, and account assignment in PO , you must enter the material group.Through material group only the G/L account will be picked and the postings done.

If you do not use itemcategory and account assignment In PO, if you create PO for stock material (means having material master) it will not ask material group.
