Reg:Triggering Events in Workflow

Hi,

If we create material using 'MM01' the event created for business object BUS1001 gets triggered in workflow, but what if we create some material using Portal or using some function module. The event doesn't get triggered. Please let me know how to link the portal change or manual change in table with the workflow events.
