Fiori Mobile Packaging on HCP - Some Questions

I followed This Blog and after a lot of messing around with iOS developer certificates etc... I finally manage to package a simple SAPUI5/Fiori App based on the Northwind service and get it running on my iPhone. Yippee!

I have a couple of questions around this packaging process that I hope someone can help me with:

  • I noticed that when I package the app the tile that appears in the packaged app Fiori Launchpad is a bit different from the one I created in the online FLP.

As an example, here is the app in the HCP Portal FLP, you can see it has the Title "Employee" and the subtitle "Northwind" and uses the "group" icon (notice it also uses the new Belize theme)

The same app after being packaged for Fiori Mobile in the iOS app looks like this, notice it has the same Title "Employees" but the subtitle is missing, it is using a different icon:

Can anyone shed some light on why there are these differences?

Also I noticed that when I built the application I got some warnings (never good)... they all look like missing resource files (css, png, less etc.) could this be the reason for the Blue Crystal instead of the Belize theme? Here is the log file that contains the errors.

Despite these warnings the app seems to work OK.

Thanks in advance!

I'll do my best to answer your questions, then perhaps we can follow it up offline. While we often use the terminology interchangably, and I would agree that there should be more commonality, when you package an app, the result isn't really a Fiori Launchpad. The Fiori Launchpad at SAP is a very well-defined concept, comes with it many connotations about theming, personalization, customization, etc. When you look at the tiles on a packaged apps, while it may look the same (for now), it's more of a fixed web page with the only variable thing being the number of tiles and the tile names.

Support for the theme designer is not currently in packaged apps, but is a planned item. We only support Blue Crystal at the moment (I believe that's the default theme).

I will follow up regarding the build log. There are also some other items that we are looking to work on to make the user experience better. For example, in the scenario when there is only one app, you shouldn't see this screen at all. It should simply launch into the app.

Thanks for this Britt. Happy to follow up with you offline if you'd like.
