Validate input for bank account in IT0009 via ESS and ECC6.0

Using ECC6.0 and ESS via EP7. We would like to validate the data entry for the bank account field in IT0009 to ensure that an 8 digit number is entered.

Is this possible? Is there a user exit or BADI that can be used to check at the input stage?
