SD Beginner ,

Availability check is used to check the availability of the material and confirm the goods on customer requested delivery date. If the stock does not match with the customer requirement then system provides and gives an alternative day on which material is available.

Suppose a customer ABCD has ordered for material M1 for 10 Pieces and requested it to be delivered on 07-05-2009. Based on the stock availability (which we check using MMBE) the stock will be assigned to the order.

Say we have stock of 7. Then the system will assign 7 or confirm 7 pieces to the order and for the rest 3 it will give an alternative date based on the material avialability. Only 7 will be confirmed and delivery date for the 7 will be set.

suppose i have 2 line items with the same material.

the availabe quantity is 20 and i eneterd first line item as 15 and second line item as 10, what will happen.

for the first item it shows availabe quantity as 20 and for second also it shows avaible as 20 is it so?

1. System will confirm the first line item with 15 items

2. System will confirm only 5 items for the second line item, and it will give an alternative day of confirmation for the remaining five items.

"how can we confirm without stock"

We maintain certain datas in Material MAster MRP2 - Gr Processing time , Planned delivery time all these will be considered and an alternative confimation date will be provided to the customer.

you will have to configure the process and check. Strategy types (MTS, MTO...)play a vital part ... so seek PP consultant's help in this process

Yes system will confirm for all line items if you create a same material with multiple line items. This is because, system will consider the available stock, only if you include the quantity in the same line item.

Each line item will be considered as a new requirement and that is why for the same material code, stock is confirming.

hi lakshmipathi you mean to say that after saving ,the available quantity for both the line items will be confirmed on saving? if it is confirmed then how can we deliver without the stock?

No, He is not saying both line item will be confrmed, it means after saving order system will confirm only 20 Qtys, that will be divided as 15 for 1st and 5 for second.

Thanks,

HI

Yes, the available quantity for both the line items will be confirmed on saving. This is because at sales order level inventory is not updating so it will take each line item as new requirement and will confirm any qty below 20.

but while Deliver suppose you deliver 15 for first line item then inventory would update and it will restrict the delivery of second line item to 5.

I hope now its clear.

Yes as I said earlier, if you create multiple line items for the same material code, system will confirm for all line items. Based on this, you can create delivery but only to the extent of available stock, you can post the goods issue.

Hi,

Availability is checked based on order quantity. So in your order the total order quanity of the material is 25, and available is 20 then the confirmer quantity will consolidated as 20 ( if partial delivery is allowed) if not then next schdeule line will generate.

Material X qty is 20 units in MMBE in unrestricted

No more incoming stocks No incoming PO,s and PR,s etc

Sales order entered

line item 1 Material X qty 15 units

line item 2 Material X qty 10 units

System will confirm the stock for the second line item only for 5 units

You can check in the system

First line item will be fully confirmed

If the configuration is perfect you will get the popup in sales order that is for line item 2 that item increment no 20 (second line item ) that stock is only 5 units and only 5 can be confirmed

Then in Schedule line, Line item number 1 will be confirmed all 15 Qtys, and 2 will confirmed 5 quantities.
