Design Studio 1.4 SP2 'Export to Excel' few number values as TEXT Issue

Hello,

We have a DS application dashboard that is being accessed globally.

One of the user in Brazil is having issues, when he exports the Crosstab to Excel.

Issue:

After export some of the numeric values are read as text for user i Brazil. User gets lot of 'warning' in excel that convert 'text to number'.

During the export some number are separated by " , ".
We tried on different machine on same location but the issue still persists.

However when exported on my end (USA) i don't see the problem of few values read as text. Please see below screenshot.

If anyone experienced this issue or know a work around to fix?

I would highly appreciate if you can share your experience here.

Hi Tammy,

We found some time back, that there was some bad job run on portal at Mexico server, that caused this bug.

Thanks for your advise.

Mohd - there's browser preferences for language, BW backend for language, launchpad settings for language - I would check those.

Sure Tammy i'll check that and keep the thread posted

Hi Tammy,

Thanks your for your quick response like always.

I had been working on 1.6 before my present client. We are looking forward to upgrade to Lumira Studio 2.0 in 2017.

Totally understand what we are missing out here with 1.4 in terms of features and most importantly performance, as I had great opportunity to work on all versions of Design Studio.

We definitely need to diagnose the source issue for this strange behavior, so that i can label it as bug and share my investigation with client for a strong reason to upgrade.

Not sure if i exactly got your point here "Language setting on DS in Brazil". Do you mean on CMC ? please advise.

Also, 1.4 is several years old; there have been many updates to Design Studio since then. Have you checked the language used with Design Studio in Brazil?

Hi Mohd Fahad,

It may be because of the different formats of number. To avoid that you can export the data in CSV file format.

So there will not be any format mismatch. I think it may solve your problem.

Thanks,

Hi Poovarasan,

I'm not sure where you want to go ahead with CSV export? Can you please shed more light on this?

Prime motive to export your data to excel is user can perform statistical operation, deep analysis. As we all know Excel is the most powerful tool.

Hi Mohd Fahad,

In the export option, you can find the file format as CSV, which you can use.

Where you can open the CSV format file in excel and you can perform required operations.

You can verify the format supported in DS 1.4

Hi Poovarasan,

Thanks for quick response.

I'm not saying that CSV is not supported with 1.4 or any version below here.

What I intent to say is CSV is of no use, CSV gets exported with series of Values that is separated by Commas that flows in a row. How you perform any operations on top of that, i have no clue.

Am i missing something here??

Perhaps you can export on your end in both format (XLS and CSV) and see the difference.

It would be great if you share a screenshot on how you are performing and logical operation on CSV, thanks

Hi Mohd Fahad,

What I am trying to say is that you can open comma separated CSV file in Excel, Each comma separated fields are considered as a column in excel. So you can perform operations you want.

Sorry I don't have any reports to do that but i have created a sample file for it

I have created a comma separated CSV file as below. In your case you will export it.

Then I opened it in excel, which will open as separate column and I have created a new column by calculating difference between Column B and C.

Thanks,

Poovarasan
