Hi GUrus,

we have a specific scenario. when we receive customer returns from the customer. we know before hand what is the defect of that part. So based on that can we automataically route the stock in to respective stock for ex unrestricted, blocked etc?

Thanks

Anusha

Please check SAP online help:

http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/a5/63360a43a211d189410000e829fbbd/frameset.htm

Depending on how Customizing for Sales is configured (the movement type is configured in the step Define Schedule Line Category), the delivery is posted to the following stock:

Blocked stock returns (non-valuated, not unrestricted-use) (movement type 651)

Unrestricted-use stock (movement type 653)

Quality inspection stock (movement type 655)

Blocked stock (movement type 657)

If the given quantity is posted to blocked stock returns first, you can make a manual goods movement posting in the Inventory Management component to transfer the quantity to valuated stock.

Entering Returns with a Returns Delivery

If no returns delivery has been entered for the return because the return is unexpected or because your company does not use the Sales (SD-SLS) component, you can only post the return to returned blocked stock in the Inventory Management component as a miscellaneous (other) goods receipt. Choose the movement type 451 (Returns from customer without Shipping).

The item category in the return sales order determines trough the schedule line by which movement type you receive your stock. So, you have to use different item categories in the return order and assign the proper schedule lines to the item categories:

Item_category; Shcedule_line; MVT

IC1; SL1; 653

IC2; SL2; 655

IC3; SL3; 657

Csaba

HI,

This is how we want to do. If it is a quality related problem, then inspection lot needs to be crated and then inspect the product. I do not know what can happen based on the outcome of the quality inspection. If the product is ok after the inspection, will it go to unrestricted? blocked etc? if it is not a quality related issue then can it or does it go to unrestricted stock? also how to deal with the financials

As I understand, you have sometimes quality related problems, and sometimes not quality related problems.

- quality related > IC2; SL2; 655 (QI stock type)

- not quality related > IC1; SL1; 653 (unrestricted-use stock type)

(So, as I told you, you can control through the item category of the return sales order in which stock type the goods will be posted. Of course, behind the return SO item category is the schedule line with the mvt)

As for your second question: if your goods are sent back to you because of quality problem, you can post them into QI stock. Based on your master data settings (quality view material master, inspection type) an inspection lot will be created when you post the goods movement through the "inbound" (return) delivery (that comes from the return SO).

If you have the inspection lot, you have to make a usage decision. Via the usage decision you can post the goods into unrestricted-use, QI-stock, blocked stock, or you can even scrap them (e.g. trx QA32).

Csaba

what is IC2 and SL2? After the inspection lot, how will we decide which stock to put into?

Please read my answers more carefully. What IC2 and SL2 are I explained in my first message: IC > item category in return sales order; SL > schedule line behind the item category (in the schedule line you define the mvt)

After the inspection lot, how will we decide which stock to put into?

It's a business decision what to do with the return goods, it has nothing to do with SAP. E.g. you quality manage can decide that the goods are OK and post them to unrestricted stock, or if the goods cannot be used anymore, the quality manager can decide to scrap them.

So, business side should decide what to do and that decision should be mapped in SAP via usage decision (QA32).
