Hi Masters, is normal having so many RFC connections open at the same time? when i review the tx AL08 i can see a lot of RFC Connections open for the same user. This user is the user that we use to the connection bettween PI an SAP ERP. As you can see in the image there are 496 Active instances open.

Thanks

Hello,

If it is normal, it will depend on your systems' behavior / load.

Are these sessions old / idle? (you can switch to that specific instance and check this in tcode SM04)

If yes, maybe the PI system is not closing idle RFC sessions.

The RFC caller (PI, in this case) must close the RFC sessions explicitly. There is no timeout parameter for RFC sessions that you could set at the ABAP instance.

I know that you can control this at the JCO level (SAP KBA 2005477).

Thanks Issais, I have been following the system and I see that the active instances always oscillate between 480 and 499, apparently this is normal in the system, but in transaction SM04, I only see about 4 active instances for that user. i has been reviewing the SAP NOTE 2005477, but i dont find the parameter.

Thanks

Hello David,

The parameters from that SAP KBA are to be set at the JCO properties/settings of the external system, not at the ABAP system.
