Hi
I am new to SAP HR and I will be starting my configuration soon. I wanted some information regarding transports. I know they are used to move data from one landscape to another. However how do I assign one for myself, also will all the configs made by me be traceable through this transport.
e.g I create an action - new hire, and I hire someone, wud this person's information also be transported (along) from DEV to the testing server when we move the info over.
All information regarding the same is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hi
The first thing you need to understand is your system landscape
A normal system landscape looks as below
Development Client
Testing Client
Quality Client
Production Client
The normal transport process will be like
1. Development Client to Testing Client using T code SCC1
2. If the testing client is fine, then again from Development Client to Quality Client using STMS (usually done by Basis Consultant)
3. Once the testing in Quality Client is found perfect and all our configurations are working fine, then we transport to Production using STMS (Again done by Basis consultant)
As a functional consultant, we will do all the configurations in Development client. Each configuration is saved as a separate Transport Request, lets say the personnel actions and Time management configurations you have done, can be saved as separate requests. Each request is copied to Testing client and tested there. Hiring an employee and checking whether all the configurations are correct can be done in Testing client. The same process we can follow for Quality client as well.
Please not that it is not advisable to hire or do any master date updations in Development client as this system is mainly meant for configuration. What ever master data you want to create, you can create in your Testing client and test your configurations.
I hope you have got a basic understanding about the process. Kindly let me know if you have any further doubts.
Thanks and regards

Hi!
Master Data , you should not transport but yes if you have doen any custmization then transport the same through the Transaction Code : SE10 >select TRN > Transport F9).
Updation of all master data in production called Go-live ( With the use of LSMW & BDC )
