Plan versions are unique identifiers of a set of data. For example if you create a budget during the end of the year for the following year, you can call it version number 01. Three months later, if you create a reveiw forecast, which has actual for first three months and forecast for the remaining periods, you can enter these forecast values under a different planning version. The budget remains static throughout the year, while the forecast reflects realistic target. These can be stored under different planning version. Comparison of actual can be made with reference to the plan values.

When you plan in multiple versions, the plan version keeps the plan data for the different versions separate within the SAP System, enabling you to compare different plan data within the report. The system generates plan version 000 as standard when you create a controlling area in customizing for CCA. This is the only version in which you can post the actual values generated during the entry of primary costs and internal activity allocation.

The table COEP could hold the data under different cersion, If profit center accounting is activiated, the transaction data could be had from GLPCA table.
