RSDDSTATTREXSERV - Explanation of the four times

What are the four times (RFC_SERVER_TIME, TREX_CLIENT_TIME, TREX_SERVER_TIME, and ABAP_RFC_TIME) representative of? What, if anything can be done to reduce any one of them...specifically, the ABAP_RFC_TIME...but documentation of all of them would be helpful!

Thanks.

Hi,

For the non-cumulative cubes, as Vitaly said I would recommend reloading to BIA again. We have 3 non-cumulative cubes in BIA (compressed weekly with marker update) performing way better than any other cubes in BIA.

I don't know what your BIA Version is, maybe you might consider upgraing to 49 if it's not.

Cheers

Hi Margie,

Big ABAP_RFC_TIME should have as well big KBytes transferred value, which means that most of the time is spent on transferring data from BWA back to OLAP Engine in BW.

Hi Vitaliy -

In the case I am analyzing, I am looking at non-cumulative key figures in the inventory cube. Is the bulk of that processing still done on the OLAP side...and would that be another reason why the ABAP_RFC_TIME is large? Or is that strictly included in the Event ID 3200 - Olap-Data Transfer number? This query specifically does inventory aging using Exception aggregates. In reality, this query runs faster without the BIA than it does with it.

Thanks!

Margie,

ABAP_RFC_TIME is part of Data Manager time and related to OLAP event 9000. 3200 is an OLAP event related to pure BW processing.

I am curious, are you getting higher Counter value for event 9010 depending on if you are running with BWA or without (against DB)?

Yes, the 9010 values are higher with the BIA. Without BIA, the counter for 9010 is 556,903. With BIA, the counter for 9010 is 1,116,385.

Hello Margie,

Sorry to say, but for the moment returning hundreds of thousands of records from BWA will not be light fast.

I think you have InfoCube compressed regularly, so number of records returned from DB will be smaller. To make this number smaller in BWA you would need to completely rebuild BIA Index for this cube regularly.

Try to rebuild it and then compare results between BWA and DB.
