Changing the DMS Document classifications with Released status (Status type S - Locked status)

Hi Gurus

I have a requirement to Chang the DMS Document classifications with Released status (Status type S - Locked status).

My scenario is :

User will change the status to Released and hits the save button. Once the Document is saved, system date is to be auto populated into one of the document characteristic as a value (Characteristic name : Effective Date).

Since the document status is Released & status type is Locked- we are not able to change the values.

Is there any solution for this issue.

Hi

in the standard the change of classification data is not possible when having a locked status.

What kind of date should be set in the characteristic. Because maybe using an object reference for the characteristic could help.

Not only dates, i need to change few other characteristic values as well. (I just gave an example above)

These characteristic values are not referenced to any table. We have defined values for those characteristics.

Do you think, we can achieve this with enhancement or custom bapi? If so, can you give me the details?
