Hi,

please download the windows version of BO Edge XI 3.0 (1 x EXE file + 2 x RAR files) and start the exe file. Select the directory where you want to extract the installation files into. After the extraction is finished, the installation will start automatically. Just abort the installation in the intro screen and go into the directory you extracted your installation files into. From there navigate to 51034355->Collaterals->Client Installer and start the setup.exe found there. This way you can install the client tools on a windows machine.

You can also download and install CRYSTAL REPORTS 2008 V0 and BOBJ XCELSIUS ENTERPRISE 2008 found under the Enterprise Query, Reporting, and Analysis package.

Please keep in mind that if you want to integrate with SAP R/3 or SAP BW systems you need to download and install _ (should be installed AFTER all other packages) _ the BOBJ INTGR. FOR SAP XI 3.0 on both your linux server and your windows client.

Stratos

Hi Dymp,

can you consider reinstalling the software again? I am assuming that you are trying to do a new installaiton here so there is no risk of loosing content if you remove the previous installation and start agaian. During the new installation you should document your inputs in every single step. This way, if this also fails we can find out more easily where something went wrong.

In order to uninstall the product please follow these steps:

1) Stop the tomcat server (tomcatshutdown.sh)

2) Run the AddOrRemoveProducts.sh script and choose to uninstall the entire product

3) After that just remove the bobje directory.

4) Remove all tables the oracle user "BO" owns.

Before you start with the new installation please make sure that your oracle instance uses a Unicode character set, such as UTF-8. If you are not sure about this then just issue the following command in your database und post the output here:

SELECT * FROM nls_database_parameters;

During the new installation please do not forget to do the following:

1) Choose to install und use Tomcat as Web Server ( If your installing BO Edge Tomcat is the only option anyway)

2) In the setup screen for your BOBJ repository, choose to use an existing oracle instance.

3) Please define an administrator password für your BOJB repository during the installation. Note down the password.

Hi,

can you also please check if there are any tables created in the Oracle DB under the DB user you used to setup the repository. The SQL statement that extracts this information looks something like this: select * from usertables where owner='BO'_. What kind of permissions does the user 'BO' has in the oracle database?

Is cms the name you gave for your sia during installation ?

Let's try this :

run serverconfig.sh and create a new SIA. Name it something like "newsia", with no quotes.

use options to install sia with all default servers and to re-create local sia if already exist in cms.

then run cmsdbsetup.sh select this new sia and re-create connection to your CMS DB.

tell us what happens.

Have you looked in bobje/logging directory, are there any usefull logs for us there ?

Could you please run serverconfig.sh and tell it to list all sia, what do you see ?

Could you lease run tnsping without any arguments ?

your LD_LIBRARY_PATH points to \lib directory, can you go to ORACLE_HOME dir and see if \lib32 exist ?

If it does - you need to point LD_LIBRARY_PATH to it instead.

then create new sia and re create CMS DB connection using cmsdbsetup.sh

Hi,

is the path to the libraries of your Oracle driver included in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable for your BOBJ installation user?

Do you use 32bit or 64bit Linux?

Look for a directory with the name "logging" within your BOBJ installation directory and look for error messages in the log files created there during the installation.

Hi Stratos,

My database is Oracle.I need information for my new CMS. how to create it? Can you instruct me step by step?

Thanks

Hi Duypm,

these are the step you have to follow. I assume you already have an oracle server installed somewhere.

1) Create an new Oracle DB instance on your Oracle server (optionally you can use an existing one. Keep in mind that the performance of your BOBJ system may get influenced by users using the same instance for other purposes ).

2) Create a user in your newly (or existing) database instance. The user must have full access in its own schema ( mandatory)

3) Download and install the linux oracle client (32bit) in your machine. (mandatory)

4) Define the connection to your Oracle server by modyfying the tnsnames.ora file (mandatory)

For more info on the above steps please refer to the oracle documentation.

You can use the name and password of your newly created user in order to setup a new repository for your BOBJ installation.

Stratos

The CMS DB is created and initialized during installation time. In BO Enterprise you can change the connection parameters or recreated the CMS DB using the cmsdbsetup.sh. Check if you have the cmsdbsetup.sh in your installation under the bobje directory. Once you run it, to recreate the CMS DB is pretty straight forward. Yo can find more information in the BO Enterprise Administrator's Guide under UNIX Tools.

Hope this help, Leo

3 things :

1. Why would you install Edge 3.0 when we already have Edge 3.1 ?

2. Installing Edge on a server where Oracle DB is running is a bad idea because of performance issues you're going to have. Edge and Oracle will be fighting for resources.

3. If you are installing on same server as Oracle DB, you do not need to install Oracle drivers, they are already there.

If you are installing on a server which has no Oracle DB, then you have to install Oracle DB drivers, which you will have to get from Oracle.

BO software cannot generate DB drivers.

Hi,

can you please clarify if you want to use your oracle server ALSO for the BOBJ repository or if you just want only to build BO reports on data residing on your oracle server and use the MySQL DB (coming with your BOBJ installation) for your repository database instead?

At any case you have to install first the oracle client on the Linux machine you plan to install your BOBJ server on. You can download such a client from the oracle site. Make sure you download and install the 32bit version of the oracle client even if you are using a 64bit Linux version.

Stratos
