How do I follow any posts to a community

As we cannot follow communities, we must follow tags, yet I cannot open any question or blog to see its tags to follow them and perhaps get a notification that something has been 'tagged'. How do I do this? Please post a step-by-step with screen shots on how to subscribe to a tag and receive notifications by email.

    Hi Chris,

I've found a blog by Osvaldo Lopez with all steps getting you closer to the tags you wish to follow.

    See here:

Once you subscribed, you will find updates in your profile.

Now the next question: when I follow a tagged question, the tags now show in my Activity Feed, but you cannot filter to the tags you are following!

How do I narrow the activity feed by filtering to the tags I follow?

How do I get an email notification of new activities for the tags?

I can't always log in to follow a tag, and besides, it is buried in all the other tags in my activity feed, making me take way too much time to locate a question that I might be able to answer (e.g. SAP Sybase IQ).

How do I narrow things down and subscribe by email?

The fact that it took me 9 days to see your answer is indicative of the problem.

    Hello Chris,

Thanks for sharing your feedback on this issue. We too have identified this as a problem and thus are working on implementing Email notifications for all user's Notifications. This should allow users to keep track of the most important engagement that is happening regarding their contributions and participation. We are also working to implement preferences in the 'type' of Email Notifications users would like to receive. For instance, users should be able to only subscribe to Email Notifications related to moderation alerts and not comments, or vice versa.

We are also working to group identical activities per content and create a "Content View" in the Activity Stream. This would group all engagement that occurred on a user's subscribed content and show them with one item in the user's stream (as opposed to 10 items for 10 likes). Users will retain the current log of updates (Activity Stream as it is now) as well. Once we can successfully group such activities per content, IT has indicated that we can also implement filters that will allow our users to filter their activities by primary tags they are following.

I hope you will be patient as we roll out these and other new features to make the Activity Stream more usable and user friendly for our users. You can read about the latest upcoming new features here:
