Hi all,
We are running Solution manager 7.0 (abap only as it was upgraded from 3.2) and are planning to upgrade to Enhancement Pack 1. Will this upgrade automiatically install the appropriate Java stack, required for SMD (diagnostics)?
OR
Do we have to add the appropriate Java stack to the existing version and then upgrade to Enhancement pack 1?
Any relevant documentation or links will be greatly appreiated!
Thanks, Neeta

The "usual" way for the upgrade would have been to install a Java AddOn into your 3.2 Solman and then do a combined upgrade of ABAP + Java.
I would now install a Java AddIn and add LMSERVICE using JSPM manually and then upgrade to EHP1.

HI Markus,
Thanks for your response! Is there an SAP guide/documentation that explains the detailed process of
installing a Java Add-In and adding LMSERVICE using JSPM manually?
I have come across some documentation on adding a java add-in to an existing ABAP stack but that uses SAPINST.

Yes, you'll need to start sapinst and follow the standard installation of an AS-Java. After you've done that, download the LMSERVICE.sca at the same support package level as all the other components are installed.
You can then just fire up JSPM and install LMSERVICE.

Hi Markus,
Excellent - Thanks! Our long term goal is to activate monitoring via SMD (Diagnostics), RCA (end-to -end) using Solution Manager and CA-Wily, but need a foundation.
There is a Portal (Java) , R/3 systems, SLD, NWDI and an instance of PI7.1 in our landscape that all need to be monitered (both at the system, business process and service level).
So in our monitoring architecture, there is a Wily Enterprise Manager running on a separate server (not solution manager!!!) - The Agents push metrics data to the Enterprise Manager & Solution Manager -
Do you know how Solution Manager and Wily Enperprise manager are tied together if they are on two separate hosts? The central landscape metrics data should be on Enterprise Manager ? Is there any comprehensive documentation on this?

This is not a problem.

That is not an issue, depending on the sizing and number of connected system it's anyway advised to install Wily EM on a separate host.
The SMD agents configurations are set through SMD, if you enter a separate Wily EM host there, it will be populated to the client. SolMan runs certain jobs that collect the data and pushes them to either the SolMan own BI infocubes or a separate BI system.
You can find the documentation at
http://service.sap.com/diagnostics
As far as I know (I may be wrong) it's currently not possible to use BPM with Java components.

Hi Neeta
Following Notes contains everything you wanted to confirm
Note 1244225 - Solution Manager 7.0 EhP 1: recommended corrections
Note 1169247 - Enhancements to Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 Stack 18 upgrade
Also, you must have to read the upgrade guide available at service.sap.com for EHP1
this guide will tell you everything
check out the second point 'general info'-Java Stack Requirements in Note 1169247.
Good luck !
Thanks
