Hi,
I am currently searching for detailed information about the PS functionality realized in S/4HANA but cannot find it. There is a lot of information about S4/HANA but none that handles the PS topic (and related fields like SD, MM,..).Not even the best practice documentation. Where can I find these kind of information?
Regards, Vanessa
That's an excellent question.
- "not considered target architecture" is a nice way to say:
you can keep using it for now, but we won't invest in it anymore
and a new solution should be released in the near future.
Or, as one of my colleagues puts it:
"it's not dead yet, but they stopped feeding him".
- I'm not sure about "SAP for Professional Services"
It looks like what was called SAP S/4HANA Cloud for Professional Services.

If that's the case, it's not an on-prem solution.
I've tested it two years ago and we were evaluating it for a customer.
I believe the most common features are now there,
especially for a consulting company.
At the time, the customer decided to go with S/4HANA On-Premise,
hosted in the cloud, because that version could not handle
serialization and bundling / unbundling of stock.
I doubt this is part of your requirement.
Depending on the size of your organization,
you should definitely look into S/4HANA Cloud.

Based on the Simplification List, Project Systems is still available in S/4HANA (since 1511) but is not considered target architecture.
Some limitations include the fact that some transactions have been discarded in favor of the all-inclusive CJ20N.
For future direction, look into Portfolio and Project Management for S/4HANA or the SAP S/4HANA Cloud for Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management (EPPM).

Hi, julien.delvat.truqua,
thanks a lot for your answer. I have two questions and maybe you can help on this:
- What is meant by "not considered target architecture". Does it mean that there are better ways to solve it or is PS obsolet in the near future?
- Do you have experience with SAP for Professional Services (https://help.sap.com/viewer/dfb1801907104577b6f9743361e058e2/1709%20002/en-US/2fcce021331f4f408c906d5d5a671ceb.html) and could give a recommendation if this is already ready to use in production or more some kind of under development?
Background: I am working currently for a consulting company and we are planning to renew the complete internal process for the project billinig process (incl. time recording, ...). Therefore we evaluate the usage of different scenarios:
- Use of ECC6 with PS, MM, CATS, SD, ...
- Use of SAP for Professional Services (OP) (but we are not sure if this fits and is sophisticated enough)
- Use of SAP PPM for S/4HANA (OP) (but we are not sure if this fits and is sophisticated enough)

Hello,
Thank you for the information but i'm confused. In the current Simplification List for SAP S/4HANA 1809 Initial Shipment Stack page 553 you can find the information, that CJ20N is the strategic function for project planning & scheduling.
Does this mean that PS is "still alive" and the strategic function for projects?

I interpret the statements in the Project Systems section of the simplification list as indicating that CJ20N is the future strategic function for Project Systems. I read the section as saying that some redundant transactions and reporting tools may disappear. I didn't read it as the entire PS solution is being made obsolete.
Hi, thanks again for your really helpful answer. Do you think that it (https://help.sap.com/viewer/dfb1801907104577b6f9743361e058e2/1709%20002/en-US/2fcce021331f4f408c906d5d5a671ceb.html) is really the cloud solution of SAP. I cannot find a hint for this but this could be the case because the sales representive told me that there is no OnPremise solution so far for this. But I cannnot find a hint in the documentation that the url is related to the cloud solution...
Thanks a lot and have a nice weekend,
Vanessa
